KILLED IN ACTION
Intimation has been received that Private Fred Russell, of the Brecknocks, was killed in action on April 30th in Mesopotamia. Pte. Russell, Brecon, joined up on the first day of the war and was an old volunteer. He was a single man and lodged with his sister, Mrs. William Lewis, at Church Terrace. On Sunday evening the church was packed on the occasion of a memorial service, when the Rev. Jas. Jones B.A. officiated. Appropriate hymns and Psalms were sung and the “Dead March” played by Mr. Williams. Much sympathy is felt with the bereaved relatives.
