The War Graves of Ystradgynlais

Ambrose Collict

Ambrose Collict or Collett was not on the original Ystradgynlais War Memorial, erected in the 1970s, but this omission was corrected when the new memorial was constructed in Autumn 2016. He served with the Royal Engineers and died from gas shell wounds in July 1917. Note that on enlistment in the Royal Welsh Fusiliers on 31st August 1914 he signed his name as 'Ambrose Collict' but on transfer to the Royal Engineers he signed his name as 'A COLLETT'

The information on Ambrose Collict, or Collett has been compiled from a number of sources, including the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, from the Cambrian Daily Leader newspaper, and the Parish Burial Register (courtesy of the Swansea Archives).
